March 25, 2020
Dear Plymouth Christian School Families,
The PCS School Board would like to sincerely thank all our families and students for your patience and flexibility during this extraordinary time in our world history. You are important and integral to the PCS family. We understand that your lives have probably changed dramatically, confirming our school’s 2019-2020 theme and Bible verse: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here! - II Corinthians 5:17
The PCS Board would also like to commend and thank the school administrators, teachers, and staff for their commitment to the health of our PCS children and families, preparing for and executing the changing educational delivery, and for their unwavering commitment to PCS, students, and families. They are the Lord’s servants, using their talents for God’s glory.
As we are faced with such unprecedented times and given that we are a nonprofit organization, we want to remind you that our teachers’ salaries are attributed based on tuition fees. The PCS Board knows how important it is to be able to continue to pay the salaried teachers at this time. Every year our teachers sacrifice and serve at a fraction of the salary of local public school educators. Please take note that April tuition is due April 1st to the 5th. At the same time we want to be cognizant of your financial needs, therefore late fees will be waived through the end of this school year, June 2020. Please notify us if your financial situation has changed because continued communication with the school is imperative during this time. The school would like to be a constant in your lives and continue its ministry to your families, even if the format looks different during this unprecedented time.
During this school dismissal, in addition to online access, teachers are working to prepare packets for the time period of April 6th through April 17th should the school remain dismissed. Five days a week, from 8:30-10:00 AM, our teachers are conducting an academic question and answer time with their students. Additionally, PCS teachers are contacting our families three times per week with a wellness check that includes a personal care call to the student to offer words of encouragement, and to maintain open communication with our PCS families. Teachers are uploading lessons they record, modeling the target concepts and skills using the school’s curricula, which includes PE and Bible along with core subjects, all of which adds value to our students’ distance learning. Furthermore, as packets are returned, teachers will be correcting assignments. Although not in the classroom setting, our teachers are working to educate our students! So as we continue to provide remote-access learning, we appreciate and anticipate your full tuition and commitment.
The PCS Board again expresses our most heartfelt thanks to you for your flexibility, patience and support in uniting with us to endure the impact during this pandemic and to keep our school open.
In God’s Hands,
Plymouth Christian School Board
